Shakari, 31, is a devoted wife and mother from the west side of Chicago. Raised in the church, her belief in Christ began early, but it was during her college years that she truly started seeking the Lord.
After graduating from Southern Illinois University Carbondale with a B.A. in Psychology in 2015, Shakari returned home and faced the challenges many recent graduates encounter. She experienced a period of heavy sadness and mild depression while pursuing a career in fashion and entertainment. Despite her efforts, she felt a persistent calling from the Lord toward a different path.
In 2019, Shakari rededicated her life to Christ and, in the same year, met her husband, Samuel. They married during the COVID-19 pandemic and relocated to Austin, Texas, before moving to Los Angeles a year later. During a particularly challenging time, Shakari became pregnant with their daughter, Samantha Snoh. Shortly before her birth, the family returned to Chicago to start anew.
Through her journey as a wife and mother, Shakari has seen God work in her life, shaping her and guiding her to fulfill His purpose. She is committed to answering God’s call and living out her faith.
As the host of the Thank God for Growth podcast, Shakari is passionate about sharing her experiences as a follower of Jesus in an authentic and honest way. Stay tuned for her upcoming episodes.
